The Golden Fleece: How One love changes the woman in society?

The Golden Fleece, This masterpiece from Greek mythology portrays How greek gods are tricky and how Greek goddesses are overbold and obsessed. This story was written in a period of Homer so some parts can be familiar with Homer’s masterpieces such as Odyssey. The lead characters in both stories have a long journey full of adventures.

Another similarity is that the lead female character falls in love with the lead male character through Cupid’s Arrow such as in Apollo and Daphne’s story which we already have a text about it.

The story begins with a king called Athamas and he is getting sick and tired of his wife, Nephele. He married Ino as his second wife but Ino hated the children of Nephele. So She convinced her husband to sacrifice them to stop famine. Hermes Sent a golden ram to save them from being sacrificed but Helle the daughter fell off from the ram and died. Phrixus sacrificed the ram devoted to Zeus and the gave skin of the ram to Colchis’s king, the king of the place Phrixus landed.

After This, the new king is Pelias who deposed the king, uncle of Phrixus and there is a son called Jason son of that deposed king. Jason came back to his country to reclaim the throne. But Pelias didn’t know this child. An orphan said that There was a stranger who was wearing only one sandal and this stranger would take the king’s throne. Jason was wearing only one sandal so Pelias was afraid of this stranger when he saw him. And Pelias made a plan that if he wanted the throne then there was a condition that he took the golden fleece and brought it to the country. The Plan was obvious no one could achieve the golden fleece. Pelias Thought that He would die on this dangerous journey. Jason brought a group of heroes together including Hercules, Theseus, Peleus and Orpheus. They made a shio and called Argo.

In this journey, the goddesses such as Hera and Aphrodite helped Jason. Aphrodite sent Cupid to make the media fall in love with Jason to help him. Medea was not a Greek but Greek people loved her so much. She was a healer that kind of magician also. But She was an absolute beauty and a pure angelic soul. With the arrow of Cupid, She fell in love with Jason. Jason lied to her. He said they would marry but the only problem is golden fleece. Then lover Medea decided to help Jason. Because She was a  healer she knew some poison too. For Jason Medea made many mistakes for her people. She killed them to save Jason. After the tasks, Medea joined the team. They got the golden fleece and turned back to the country. Jason found out that Pelias killed his dad and his mother died of sadness.

What Happened to Medea and Jason?

The second part of the story is about waking up from magic and taking revenge. As you remember Jason lied to her that He promised to marry her. But He didn’t. Moreover, He married another woman who was the daughter of a king. She was desperate. Plus the people in town hated her. She killed her people to help Jason and she did many bad things to her people. As you know she was a healer. She was a good person so she was a healer but now she is a bad person. So People called her a witch.

But Before all things happened Medea was pregnant. She had two sons from Jason. He left them for the daughter of the king. Medea was mad. Nothing and No one is brutal more than a mad and cheated woman! Medea made a cruelest plan ever. She sent a gift to the bride of Jason. When they opened the gift of flame, the bride died. It wasn’t enough for Medea. She killed her sons to save them from Jason and Left Jason without inheritors.

In Every Human being, there is an evil side and also a pure side. All things happen and we choose one side. So It is important to balance between our pure and evil sides. If we choose one side then demolition is undeniable.
